Road Trip update

As you can see the Road Trip clock reached 0 and I’m back safely from Road Trip II(although not without casualties). While Malda (and I’m sure JJ in this years trip) attempts to create confusion amongst the readers with his lies; let it be known that I and I alone have the integrity to tell the truth and record the trip in all honesty.

While RTII is over and RTIII planning will now commence there are a few updates left from the previous year to complete first. Then I will blog this years adventure..

Dear readers

The lies and photoshopped pictures that Gayham Baker has spouted on here will soon be exposed. He will be hearing from my lawyers very soon.... if he survives Road Trip II - The Malda Strikes Back

Road Trip 09 – Day 3 – Still in Dolgellau

After a good sleep it was time to get breakfast and break camp. Not before we decided to show what good sports we are to the locals and share our flag!

Everything went smoothly that morning, even Malda packing his tent was done pretty quick too…

Well done Malda!

Road Trip 09 – Day 2 – Dolgellau

After a fairly long drive we discovered the town of Dolgellau and I decided it would be a good place to stop for the night (Keith just refused to make any decisions throughout the trip and basically made no effort, so somebody had to be decisive!)

After I did all the hard work and set up camp I let Malda make the fire; Some say this was irresponsible of me to let him start the fire, but he was playing up like a spoilt child and I had to give him something to do. I did supervise though as it is said that Malda shouldn’t play with matches or anything flammable..

Then it was dinner and on the menu tonight was… yes you guessed correct it was Sausages!

If Carlsberg made a light sabre it would probably be the best light sabre in the world…

This is where I beat Malda at Chess…

Now he may say that he beat me… Well that’s not true because he stole two pieces from the board when I wasn’t looking… In other words he CHEATED! Plus he still has those two pieces so he better bring them on Road Trip II for a rematch!

Why did you bring that stuff!? We both hate it!

Road Trip 09 – Day 2 – The Journey Continues..

After threatening Keith he eventually told me that he hid my phone in my tent just before I packed it. What an idiot! Because of that we ended up wasting a good hour while I had to unpack everything to find it!

I was keen to visit the South Wales Borderers Museum in Brecon however being such a Hobbit Keith insisted on having a second breakfast in a greasy spoon, where he then tried to chat up the girl behind the counter by practising his Welsh accent.. I got out quick before we were lynched and made my way to the museum!

Finally got to the museum! <Digimax S1000 / Kenox S1000>

A small but Great Museum highly recommended!

After leaving the museum we continued Northish out of Brecon. There was no plan and no idea where we were going or where we would end up.

The setting seemed to suit the subject

Road Trip 09 – Day 2 (Breakfast)

Breakfast in Brecon

In spite of giving Malda plenty of time to give his side of events I thought I would add the next chapter…

It wouldn’t be Wales without a little rain! After Keith’s appalling navigation and getting to the site very late, we still managed to setup camp and get some food, booze and sleep.

When I say sleep I mean having to listen to the sound of snoring, slapping sounds and groans coming from the green tent (Malda’s Tent) most of the night…

To the sound of duelling banjos

Due to the lack of sleep I needed something to kick start the day, and give me some energy to put up with Keith's playing stupid games while driving. Punch bug! (I will let him explain when he finally puts up an update) I don’t know why he kept wanting to play it, he was rubbish and kept losing!)

Energy drink

Well it was raining!

Keith was in high spirits during the morning though and was joking and laughing while we got ourselves together and packed up and onto the next location, (whatever that may be). He even had time to update his video diary to share what a wonderful day he was having.

Keith loves camping

I told him not to bring it, but he is just like JD (just some bloke who hangs around our pub ‘The Rose’ trying to be know the type, comes over uninvited and sits at your table and just starts talking to you  (quiet one who will no doubt go on a rampage with an AK47 one day) Anyway JD is always going on about how he has kit for this and kit for that (mostly from his favourite shop ‘The Pound Shop’) and how good it is and how he has lots of knives and para-cord?! anyway Keith is just the same always showing off with his lightsabre!

Keith turns to the dark side

At this point I was having a really good time, but then Malda goes and hides my phone and wouldn’t tell me where it was! Thanks mate…

Road Trip 09 - Day 1

Starting off

This is the first entry of Road Trip 2009.

Keith had this idea that he wanted to do the Mongol Rally, so although hardly as far or as dangerous as the Mongol rally I decided that it would probably be a good idea to see if we can last a few days ‘on the road’ without killing each other and it was decided to go for a week’s drive (no particular plan) around the UK with a few tents and provisions, no booking of campsites, hotels or B&B’s and with exception to the first night no idea where we were going to stay!

Road Trip Music 100_4026_edited-1

Keith had ‘borrowed’ a car and was set to pick me up on the first day; late as usual we finally go away about an hour later than expected and headed off towards Wales. I had been camping in Wales many years before and had found a wild campsite where you could pitch up for free, it was the only planned destination of the journey.

The Drive

Keith started by explaining that although the car was decent for the drive the air con didn’t work and that he had driven all the way to Devon and back the previous day and had suffered in the heat.

I promptly turned on the air con button and surprise surprise it came on. He didn’t know how to work the air con! Now I’m sure when he posts his entry he will come up with some excuse, but at the end of the day all he had to do was turn it on! lol

Not using his mobile phone while driving.

Now to avoid any international incidents I won’t explain how Keith kept trying to speak with a Welsh accent to everyone.. It is insulting to the Welsh people.

The Brecon Beacons.

Surprisingly it didn’t take too long to get into Wales, although why do you have to pay to get into Wales across the Severn Bridge but not to get out of Wales?

SatNav Saga

Mine is the fun SatNav

If it wasn’t for my satnav, we would have got lost and never found Brecon, it was me who found the campsite!

Just about to start Long Drag'; SAS style!

Setting up Camp

Now, I’m sure Keith will try and tell you that I got lost getting to the first site. Well it’s simply not true, He kept banging on about how it was the journey that was important that I made sure that he got to see plenty of the countryside before getting to the destination. Yes it was night when we got there but it’s more fun setting up camp when you can’t see…

The Legendary 2 second tent

It is important to note that the location for this site is secret and is only known to a few people. If you have seen the film ‘The Beach’ you will know what I mean. You have to be shown where it is never told!

Oasis tribute band..

Don't know the rest of it!

Just here for a little drink driving!

Probably the best campsite in the world

The only food on the menu

As a rule sausages and beer is the stable diet of the road trip, they must be consumed at least once a day throughout.. Although we learnt that next time, we need better BBQ then the cheap disposable ones.

Now before I finish this entry for Day 1 I must express that any opinion that Keith may make on this blog is not true..all a pack of lies don’t believe him!
